CID Speaker Series: It's all about MeE: Using structured experiential learning ("e") to crawl the design space
Description: This talk will be focused on how implementing agencies can rigorously search across alternate project designs using real time monitoring data that feeds back into decision making for project design and implementation. This approach emphasizes the know-how of implementers and fosters learning throughout the process. Salimah Samji is a Fellow at the CID’s Building State Capability Program. She has over ten years of experience working in international development. Most recently, she served as a senior program manager at Google.org leading a transparency and accountability initiative focused on empowering citizens and decision makers, by making information on service delivery outcomes, publicly available. She has also worked at the World Bank as a social/rural development and monitoring and evaluation specialist in South Asia and Africa. Born in Kenya, Salimah has a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo (Canada) and a Masters in Public Administration in International Development (MPAID) from the Harvard Kennedy School. She is a qualified Casualty Actuary who decided to change careers after her 18 month experience working in Afghan refugee camps with a Canadian NGO (FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance) based in Pakistan. She has worked and lived in Kenya, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Canada and the USA. No RSVP necessary. Free lunch provided.
