CID Speaker Series: Reflections of a Former Diplomat on International Development

Margaret Huber is a former Canadian diplomat, who has served primarily in Asia, Europe and the Middle East, including in senior positions as Consul General both in Osaka and in Milan, as Ambassador to the Czech and Slovak Republics, High Commissioner to Pakistan and as Ambassador to Jordan and Iraq (2007-10). Other assignments in developing areas included at the Canadian Embassy in Manila (on commercial liaison with the Asian Development Bank that involved travels to development projects throughout the region). She is a graduate of McGill University (BA Honors), the University of Ottawa (MA), the US State Department School of Intensive Japanese in Yokohama, and the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.
