The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs will host a Director's Lunch with Peter Baker, Chief White House Correspondent, The New York Times, in the Belfer Center Library (L369).
Peter Baker is the Chief White House Correspondent for The New York Times and a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine, responsible for covering President Obama and his administration. Prior to joining The Times in 2008, Baker was a reporter for 20 years at The Washington Post, where he also covered the White House during the presidencies of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. In between stints at the White House, Baker and his wife, Susan Glasser, spent four years as Moscow Bureau Chiefs, chronicling the rise of Vladimir Putin. Baker also covered the early months of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Baker is author of Days of Fire: Bush and Cheney in the White House, published by Doubleday and named one of the five Best Nonfiction Books of 2013 by The New York Times Book Review, a Notable Book of the Year by The Washington Post and one of the best books of the year by National Journal, Barnes and Noble and the Nieman Reports. He is also author of The New York Times bestseller, The Breach: Inside the Impeachment and Trial of William Jefferson Clinton (Scribner, 2000), and co-author, with Glasser, of Kremlin Rising: Vladimir Putin’s Russia and the End of Revolution (Scribner, 2005).
Baker is a regular panelist on PBS’s “Washington Week” and a frequent guest on other television and radio programs. He has won the Gerald R. Ford Prize for Distinguished Coverage of the Presidency and the Aldo Beckman Memorial Award for reporting on the White House. He and Glasser live in Washington with their son.
As space is limited for this event, RSVPs will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Belfer Center Lunches are strictly off-the-record. By requesting to attend the Lunch, you agree that you will comply with the Belfer Center's strict policy against recording or disclosing the contents of the seminar.
