Anna Diamantopoulou is a member of the Greek Socialist Party served as European Union Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities from 1999 until 2004. Upon returning to electoral politics in her native Greece, she served in successive cabinet posts as Minister of Education and until the most recent parliamentary elections as Minister of Competitiveness.
