Gender & Body Language: The Mechanics of Public Speaking

Gender & Body Language: The Mechanics of Public Speaking A Workshop with Allison Shapira 6-7:30PM Tuesday, March 4, 2014 Cason Room, Taubman 102 Harvard Kennedy School Confident or aggressive? Persuasive or pushy? Empathetic or Emotional? Gender biases heavily shape audience perception. For both men and women in the public sphere, understanding how audiences react to speakers of different genders can help to negotiate this dynamic. The workshop will address how we filter body language, tone, style and content through a gendered lens and how speakers may leverage this understanding in developing their own speaking style and finding an authentic voice.
