As the Executive Director of LivableStreets Alliance, a Boston-based organization rethinking urban transportation to create safe streets and vibrant public spaces, Jackie will share her thoughts about living car-light. While Boston’s population and square footage of development is increasing, car registrations are decreasing. What does this trend mean for mobility and accessibility? Jackie will talk about the challenges and opportunities we face not just in Boston, but in urban areas around the world.Jackie joined LivableStreets in January 2008 and became Executive Director in March 2012. Her interest in transportation began as a child after living in the Netherlands where she and her family cycled everywhere. In 2011, Jackie was awarded National Advocate of the Year by the Alliance for Biking & Walking. She graduated from Boston University in 2008 with a self-designed major to study the forces that shape people, looking at factors such as cognitive development and genetics, public policy, and the built environment.
