Our speaker today is John Pucher, professor of planning and
public policy-Rutgers University, and author of City Cycling (MIT
Press 2012).Many believe that cycling and walking are the most
environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable of all
transport modes. John will describe policies and programs necessary
to make cycling and walking safe and
convenient.
John has conducted research on a wide range of topics in transport
economics and finance. He has examined differences in travel
behavior, transport systems, and transport policies in Europe,
Canada, the USA, and Australia, with a particular focus on walking
and bicycling. John has published three books and numerous
articles in academic and professional journals. His latest book,
City Cycling, provides an overview of international cycling
trends and policies.
