Ayman Khalil, Director of the Arab Institute for Security Studies will present an MTA seminar on the WMD-Free Zone and Security Concerns in the Middle East. Dr. Khalil is a physicist by training and holds a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Reading University (UK). He served as chair of the National Initiative on Environmental Security, joined the United Nations for five years, and was commissioned to lead a UN goodwill mission to Turkey and Cyprus in 1999. Known for his extensive relations throughout the MENA region with emphasis on GCC countries, Dr. Khalil’s role was instrumental in concluding bilateral agreements with the League of Arab States as well as establishing liaison offices for UN special programs in the Gulf region.
