Transportation Speaker Series: Planes, Trains and Automobiles (and Bikes)

Highlight: Jay Walder, MPP '83, outgoing Chairman and CEO of New York's MTA and (effective January 1) CEO of Hong Kong's MTR, will draw on his experiences.
Description: Jay Walder joined the MTA as chairman and chief executive officer in October 2009. In his tenure with the country's largest public transportation system, Jay has overseen an agenda of change that included the most aggressive cost-cutting initiative in the history of the MTA and numerous customer improvements. Jay began his career in 1983 at the MTA, heading its capital program budget office, later serving as chief of staff and then executive director and chief financial officer.  After leaving the MTA in 1995 he taught at the Harvard Kennedy School. He subsequently joined Transport for London (TfL), where he served as the managing director for finance and development until 2006.  From 2007 until rejoining the MTA, Jay was a partner at McKinsey & Company. http://www.hks.harvard.edu/centers/taubman/news-events
