Writing the Opinion Column: Part 2-Ledes, Billboards, and the Kicker, a Writing Workshop with Diane McWhorter, Shorenstein Ce

This four-part series on writing the opinion column will be run by Diane McWhorter, who sits on the USA Today Board of Contributors, writing for its op-ed page. She has also been a contributor to The New York Times, The Nation, Slate, The American Scholar, Smithsonian, and Harper’s.

As indicated in the subtitle to each of these four workshops, each will focus on a different aspect of writing the opinion column from idea generation to revision.

Attendees are welcome to attend all or one of the sessions which are designed to be hands-on, skill-based workshops.

McWhorter, who received the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction in 2002 for her book Carry Me Home,  is this year’s A.M. Rosenthal Writer-in-Residence at the Shorenstein Center.
