Election Day was an occasion for celebration for dozens of Kennedy School alumni. Of the 55 alumni who ran for public office in the U.S. mid-term election earlier this month, 46 were elected, five to their first term.
"It is terrific to see that so many of our talented graduates were elected to public office, both in Congress and in state legislatures across the country," said Kennedy School Dean David Ellwood. "We wish them all the best as they work to better their communities and improve the lives of their fellow citizens, and we look forward to following their accomplishments in the years ahead.”
This year’s elected officials join a long list of Kennedy School alumni who have served in public office. The list includes U.S Representatives Robert R. Torkildsen (R-MA) 1993-97, Master in Public Administration 1990; Katherine Harris (R-FL) 2003-present, Master in Public Administration 1997; and Stephen Lynch (D-MA) 2001-present, Master in Public Administration 1998.
