The Center for Public Leadership has been named the #2 university-affiliated leadership development program in North America according to a recent survey of nearly 600 organizations conducted by Leadership Excellence magazine.
The magazine singled out the top 100 leadership development programs in seven categories: organizations with fewer than 2,000 employees, large organizations, university-affiliated programs (which included schools of management and business), nonprofits, government or military organizations, independent coaches, and large consulting groups.
Among large organizations, the top three leadership development programs were Caterpillar University, General Electric, and Southwest Airlines. In the university-affiliated category, the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan was the top-ranked program; Harvard Business School came in 9th.
Leadership Excellence is published by Executive Excellence, a 22-year-old training and publishing firm based in Provo, Utah. This is the fifth year that the magazine’s editorial board has ranked leadership development programs. The selections for 2006 were based largely on questionnaire responses; on-site visits and interviews were conducted in a few instances.
