Cambridge, MA – Peter Gelb, general manager of the Metropolitan Opera, will speak about the challenges of integrating a new artistic vision with an innovative financial vision during a panel discussion March 3 at Harvard Kennedy School. The discussion, “A New Future for the Metropolitan Opera,” will be held from 3:30-5 pm in Bell Hall, Belfer Building, 79 JFK Street, Cambridge.
V. Kasturi Rangan, Malcolm P. McNair professor of marketing at the Harvard Business School, will respond to Gelb’s presentation, followed by open discussion and a reception.
Gelb is renowned for his visionary business and artistic sensibilities. Among his innovations has been the offering of high definition broadcasts of Met performances to audiences at movie theaters around the world.
The panel is co-sponsored by The Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations, Harvard University, and the Office for the Arts at Harvard, and is part of a series of panel discussions hosted by the Hauser Center titled “Ushering in the Second Decade: The Future of the Nonprofit Sector.”
