Organization Description: Corporate Accountability International (formerly Infact) is a membership organization that protects people by waging and winning campaigns challenging irresponsible corporate actions around the world.

Since our first campaign pressuring Nestlé to stop dangerous marketing of infant formula to children in developing countries, Corporate Accountability International has taken on abusive transnational corporations one industry at a time. Now, we're building on our success and expanding our work to challenge several industries at once, specifically addressing abuses in the water, food and agribusiness, tobacco and oil industries.

Internship Description: Media interns will work primarily with the press officer to generate, track, and analyze media coverage of abuses by our corporate targets and Corporate Accountability International’s campaign work.

Media work this spring will focus on exposing the dangerous reality behind bottled water marketing, work towards an international treaty to protect the human right to water, and the food industry’s interference with nutrition policies.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ALL MEDIA INTERNSHIPS:

  • Work directly with press officer to develop and implement strategic media plan
  • Monitor news and identify opportunities to generate coverage
  • Track and analyze press coverage
  • Update and expand database of news media contacts
  • Design and produce communications materials
 
Qualifications:   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Self-motivation, confidence and creativity
  • Strong and articulate written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent critical thinking skills; can conceive and execute ideas beyond assignments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proactive, with courage to try new things

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

  • Background in communications, political science and/or social activism are a plus
  • Knowledge of human rights, international social justice and corporate accountability  issues
  • Graphic presentation skills
  • Experience with Photoshop, Microsoft Access and Excel
  • Spanish, French, Portuguese
     
Dates, Hours:   All internships will be based at Corporate Accountability International’s campaign headquarters in Back Bay, Boston, Monday through Friday. Interns are expected to complete a minimum of 10 hours per week in the office. Office hours will be determined between interns and their supervisor.
