Organization Description: The Crittenton Women’s Union transforms the course of low-income women’s lives so that they can attain economic independence and create better futures for themselves and their families. 
Internship Description: The Advocacy Department at the Crittenton Women’s Union is seeking an intern for the Fall 2006 semester.  The Advocacy/Public Policy Interns will assist the Advocacy Department with legislative, organizing and education campaigns. 

Position Description

  • Assist Advocacy Director and Coordinator with the Massachusetts Family Economic Self-Sufficiency Project; correspondence to statewide partners; help coordinate presentations.

  • Maintain statewide partner database.

  • Research relevant public policy issues for bi-weekly newsletter, such as low-income women’s access to employment, higher education, job training, and housing.

  • Attend occasional partner meetings.

  • Assist Department with mailings; general administrative tasks.

 
Qualifications:   Knowledge and Skills Required
  • Candidates should be interested in learning more about public policy, economic issues and regulations impacting low-income women and their families.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Microsoft Office experience required.

  • Travel to sites throughout Greater Boston on occasion; use of a car is not required.

  • Flexible, sense of humor a plus.

Dates, Hours:   On-going, Shifts Available: Monday-Friday (20-30 hours/week)
