Organization Description:

MFSO is an organization of people opposed to the war in Iraq who have relatives or loved ones in the military. MFSO membership includes over 3,000 military families; there are 26 MFSO chapters nationwide.

Internship Description:

Military Families Speak Out (MFSO) is seeking interns for the fall semester 2006 to work in our Boston (Jamaica Plain) office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to gain experience in a non-profit setting as well as make a contribution to important social change work.

Tasks/Responsibilities Could Include:

  • Office work, such as data entry, order processing, filing, and mailings as supervised by MFSO’s Operations/Program Coordinator
  • Organizing, such as contact with established and forming chapters, promoting MFSO campaigns, and working on campaign materials as directed by MFSO’s Organizer
  • Media/Communications – Identifying opportunities for MFSO members to speak in public or with the press, promoting MFSO in blogs
 
Qualifications:  

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability in one of the above areas
  • Demonstrated commitment to the movement opposing the Iraq war and/or other applicable experience
  • Ability to work independently and take direction
  • Attention to detail; interpersonal skills; computer proficiency
