Company Description: The Lowell Small Business Center is a program in collaboration with Middlesex Community College, UMass Lowell, and the City of Lowell. Community Teamwork, Inc. (CTI) is a private, non-profit corporation established in 1965 for the specific purpose of striving for full economic and social potential of low-income and elderly people in the agency’s service area. As a community action agency, it provides advocacy, job training, pre-school education, nutrition programs, elderly volunteer activities, child care, fuel assistance and weatherization assistance as well as affordable housing and shelters for the homeless. CTI provides these services through grants and contracts with the federal, state and local governments as well as private foundations and other entities. Currently there are approximately 430 employees who work with clients in the greater Merrimack Valley.   
Job Description: RESPONSIBILITIES:

ADMINISTRATION

  • Assist Center visitors with required registration paperwork and documentation
  • Update and maintain all Center databases including Octopi, client list, mailing lists and related monthly reports.
  • Complete CDBG billing reports and check for accuracy and supporting documentation.
  • Check office supply and program inventory and order as appropriate; including client handouts, training materials, and other documents and reproduce as necessary.
  • Insure that the appearance of the office is professional and organized.

OUTREACH

  • Welcome clients to the Center and provide an initial orientation to the services provided by the Center.
  • Maintain frequent contact and follow-up with clients via visits, by mail, telephone or other means.
  • Identify clients who have established a business and obtain basic information on the business including employment and annual sales data.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with organizations that either represent or provide services to the minority, immigrant and Refugee communities in Lowell.
  • Develop and implement plans to complete outreach activities within budget and assigned timeframes;
  • Distribute program information to Lowell businesses encouraging awareness and participation.
  • Update and maintain the Center’s website.
  • Contribute to and produce client newsletters, mailers, and funding appeals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:   QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BA degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in business, small business development, or economic development preferred.
  • Written and oral fluency in English necessary; fluency in Khmer, Spanish or Portuguese preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook necessary.
  • Available to work flexible schedule including evenings when needed.
  • Experience and/or a commitment to work with diverse ethnic and economic groups.
  • Familiarity with the various neighborhoods and ethnic groups of Lowell desired.

EXPERIENCE:

Previous experience in business, small business development or economic development.

EDUCATION:

BA preferred

Salary and Benefits:  

$28,000 annual with an excellent benefits package
