The Contract Administrator is a "hands-on"
individual who works daily with our membership. This
position answers questions about contract rights. The
Contract Administrator also files grievances and does
preparation for arbitration to enforce our contract
rights. In addition, this position prepares for
negotiations through working with the membership,
doing bargaining surveys, creating proposals and
working with the bargaining committee. Excellent
verbal and written communication skills are required,
as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
-organizing our membership into action through
contract negotiation processes, contract enforcement
and political activities
-internal organizing and running meetings
-representing our membership through grievances and
arbitration
-bargaining assistance on behalf of our membership
-working with our membership to train and develop
rank and file leaders
-all aspects of membership development
-establishing and maintaining a departmental
representative/steward structure at each facility
-timely communications with our membership (write
leaflets and newsletters) and site visits covering all
shifts
-maintaining union membership, visibility and
activity
-participate in community, political and union
events
