Job Description:

The National Executive Director (NED) will be responsible for the overall implementation of SAG national policies. The NED shall serve jointly, with the SAG National President, as the internal and external face of the organization.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: NED will report to the National Board of Directors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a general summary of the most significant job duties performed. 

  • Chief Strategist for short and long term organizational planning, development and implementation.
  • Chief Negotiator and strategist for all collective bargaining agreements with broad oversight regarding interpretation and enforcement.
  • Works closely with the Board of Directors to review, refine and implement SAG policies and programs related to the various collective bargaining agreements and negotiations.
  • Primary and central entertainment industry leader and spokesperson participating in national conferences, seminars and similar events; serves on key domestic and international industry related organizations.
  • Labor leader representing the Guild to promote and strengthen the position of its members within the entertainment industry and the labor movement. Maintains keen awareness of central legal and labor issues impacting SAG and makes effective implementation recommendations to the National Board including lobbying and organizing efforts.
  • Establish rapport and on-going communication with National President
 
Qualifications:  

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must be a visionary who is politically astute and displays leadership presence.
  • Strong entertainment media presence and/or labor presence and relationships to command respect from industry leaders.
  •   Must possess labor negotiations background working on labor/management issues with significant proven track record. Demonstrated ability to facilitate consensus amongst diverse groups of people, resources and constituents.
  •  Have a demonstrated track record of leadership with management and administrative overview.
  • Solid business acumen and strong understanding of not for profit organizations.
  •  Be committed and passionate about the mission of SAG.
  •  Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency, as is necessary or desirable to meet the organization’s business needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience: Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree in related field strongly preferred. Proven experience and success at similar executive level for 5 years minimum in related field/industry.

Salary and Benefits:  

Compensation for the National Executive Director, includes an annual salary beginning in the range of $325K per year, (depending on experience) with a generous package of benefits including health, dental, life insurance, 401 K, and a defined benefit pension plan.
