ONE Lowell is dedicated to increasing the integration and self sufficiency of Lowell’s many newcomers by strengthening civic participation, developing strong leadership, and increasing access to vital services.

Job Description:

Manager: ONE Lowell World Cup ONE Lowell is a 501(c) 3 non profit based in Lowell, Massachusetts whose mission is to promote unity among the city's diverse immigrant population. The ONE Lowell World Cup is a weekend soccer tournament that allows teams representing nations around the world to compete. The event includes an arts and crafts fair, merchandise, ethnic foods, and information booths, which creates excitement and fun for the whole family. The ONE Lowell World Cup will become a significant event in the city of Lowell and we are looking for the right person to help us grow and establish this new event. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Engage referees, assigning to games, monitoring referees during the game

• Work with Cawley Stadium staff to assure fields are set up appropriately

• Create master schedule for games

• Recruit and market the tournament to teams

• Review all tournament rules with players/coaches/managers prior to the games and sign contracts

• Assure every player has signed injury release form • Set up the registration team for the 1st day of the tournament

• Make adjustments for eliminatory games - rules/registration/roster/whatever

• Determine field location for eliminatory games

• Obtain and work with World Cup sponsors

• Recruit and sign contracts with vendors for food, merchandise, information, art

• Keep accounting for all financial transactions for the World Cup

• Obtain all required permits from the Health Dept., Fire Dept., Park and Recreation, etc.

• Obtain police detail

• Assure all food vendors have required training and certificates

• Work with stadium personnel on set up for vendors

• Work with board/E.D. on marketing strategy/advertising to ethnic and established media

• Work with graphic designer and printer on the program book and tickets

• Acquire beverage/food donations

• Determine needs/set up volunteer schedule

 
Qualifications:  

Qualifications

• Event management experience, tournament management preferred

• Must have experience working with immigrant communities and proven ability to work across cultures

• Volunteer recruitment and management experience

• Knowledge of soccer

• Good English language skills and additional competence in Spanish preferred

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends

• Excellent organizational and leadership skills

• Ability to manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, work independently as well as within a team structure

• Proficient with Windows based word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and e-mail/internet

• Excellent interpersonal skills

Salary and Benefits:  

This contract position pays $20,000 per year based upon completion of project benchmarks.
