Company Description:

Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) is a progressive, national, grassroots, membership organization dedicated to a resolution of the Israel/Palestine conflict based on principles of democracy, human rights and respect for international law.

Job Description: JVP is seeking a National Director to provide overall leadership to an organization in the midst of a transition from a San Francisco /Bay Area based grassroots group to a high-impact national membership organization with chapters throughout the US. JVP needs a visionary and dynamic professional who can provide leadership in this time of major transition. S/he must be passionate about the JVP mission and have experience and leadership qualities to build a broad-based social movement.

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead program development in concert with board, staff and membership
  • Serve as a spokesperson for JVP
  • Hire, supervise and evaluate staff and promote teamwork among staff and members
  • Prepare and oversee the budget
  • Plan and lead fundraising effort, with input and assistance from Board and Development Committee.
  • Increase size and commitment of activist membership
  • Monitor chapter development and promote organizational cohesion
 
Qualifications:  

Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least six to eight years of senior level management experience in a non-profit organization, including that of Executive Director

  • Successful track record raising money from a diverse base of individual and from foundations

  • A strong background in grassroots activism and organizing, including experience with membership-based organizations

  • Ability to engage and work with diverse constituencies in ways that motivate, influence and organize others

  • Working knowledge of the Israeli/Palestine conflict and understanding of, and agreement with, the JVP perspective

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Visionary political leadership, strong management skills, and strategic thinking

  • Demonstrated progressive values
