DIRECT REPORT: AED, Housing and Homeless Services

 

STATUS: Exempt, Full-Time

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

 

The SHIFT (Stabilized Housing for Individuals and Families in Transition) Coalition Coordinator position is located within the division of Housing and Homeless Services. The Coordinator is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with other coalition members, recruiting new members to the coalition; fundraising and advocating with federal, state and local contacts for homeless prevention. This position reports to the Associate Executive Director of Housing and Homeless Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning and coordinating the activities of the SHIFT (Stabilized Housing for Individuals and Families in Transition) Coalition.

  • Developing and maintaining coalition membership.

  • Coordinating existing resources (monetary and material) and outreach to new partners and funders to build capacity within the coalition.

  • Seeking additional funding for homeless prevention and services.

  • Working with coalition members to develop a community-wide Early Warning System to prevent homelessness.

  • Working closely with the SHIFT/HCEC caseworker to support and advocate for client issues.

  • Implementing steps identified by the coalition as necessary to alleviate the problems of homelessness.

  • Advocating on a local, state, and national level for improvements in the administration of programs for the homeless and those at risk of homelessness.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 
Qualifications:  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in relevant area of Social Service or a closely allied field preferred. 

  • Knowledge of housing and homeless prevention policy and programs.

  • Demonstrated skills in advocacy, grant writing, and program coordination. 

  • Analytic and critical thinking skills required.

  • Bilingual skills a plus.
