Company Description: Stand for Children exists because children have no power to influence our democratic system to meet their fundamental needs. Our mission is to teach everyday parents and others concerned community members to build an effective grassroots voice in order to win concrete, long-lasting improvements in public schools at the local and state level. 

Since 1999, Stand for Children’s 20 Chapters/Teams and 4,500 members have won 75 local and state victories that have improved the lives of more than 2.6 million children and secured more than $1.3 billion for schools and other children's programs. 

This September, Stand for Children will launch a Washington state affiliate. Following the model of our successful work in Oregon, Massachusetts, and Tennessee we will build a strong grassroots constituency for children and schools throughout Washington.
Job Description:

Stand for Children seeks an outstanding Organizer to work with our State Director to launch a Washington state affiliate. 

The Organizer will be assigned to specific communities and be responsible for organizing a Chapter or Community Teams. The Organizer’s primary responsibilities will include:

  • Meetings to recruit volunteer leaders

  • Training and coaching member leaders to build new Teams

  • Managing issue research; coordinating meetings with elected officials

  • Mobilizing members to win key issue and election campaigns at the local and state level.

Job Requirements:

  • Community organizing, political organizing or relevant leadership experience. Note: If you do not have community/political organizing or relevant leadership experience, please do not apply.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and occasional weekends; full-time access to a car.

Salary:   $32,000-$48,000 (dependent upon experience or demonstrated capacity), plus benefits
