Martin R. West

Marty is a research fellow at PEPG and a doctoral fellow in the Multidisciplinary Program on Inequality and Social Policy at the Kennedy School of Government. He is also the research editor and a regular contributor to Education Next, a journal of opinion and research on education policy. He is the co-editor of No Child Left Behind? The Politics and Practice of School Accountability (Brookings, 2003) and the author of numerous academic articles on education policy and politics. He holds a BA in History from Williams College and an M.Phil.in Economic and Social History from Oxford University. He is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Government and Social Policy at Harvard University.

 

At Harvard, Marty is involved in undergraduate life as a teaching fellow, the Assistant Senior Tutor of Currier House, and as a participant in Harvard's ongoing curricular review. Marty and his fiancé, Grace Foster, are currently in the midst of planning a July wedding in Maine and are looking forward to moving together in August to Washington DC, where Marty will join the Brookings Institution as a research fellow in Governance Studies.
