Brian Welch is the Program Administrator of the Program in Criminal Justice Policy and Management at Harvard Kennedy School, and has been with the Program since 2000. Before coming to Harvard Brian was working on a Ph.D. in Theology at the University of Chicago Divinity School. Brian has a Master of Arts in Divinity from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia.
Brian spends his free time collecting, researching, restoring, and using antique woodworking tools. He maintains a website on the history of various New England tool manufacturers; In 2008 Brian built a banjo from scratch and is trying to teach himself how to play it. He is also an award-winning homebrewer.
