Effective preparedness can limit or avert disaster impacts. But governments, companies, communities and individuals are often not prepared for disasters.
Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) has long experience with examining the impacts of disasters and human responses to these extreme situations. We have conducted disaster research; published academic and expert findings; and have learned lessons from students who are practicing professionals or policymakers.
We have compiled useful materials in select bibliographies and simplified disaster response and recovery guides. In addition, HKS has a network of senior faculty members and disaster-experienced government and community officials who can be tapped for further information. Contact PCL for further information.
