Film screening: "The War Which Did Not Take Place"
This 50 minute film – part of the award-winning TV series Return to Europe – explores the background to one of the most successful international crisis preventions in the past two decades. In 2001, the small multiethnic Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia stood on the verge of civil war. A rapid intervention by NATO and the EU succeeded in getting the country back from the brink. This year the European Commission recommended to start full membership accession talks with the country.

Following the film was a short discussion with Ivica Bocevski, FYROM’s former deputy prime minister, and Gerald Knaus, director of ESI, Carr Center fellow, and co-author of the film script. For more information, visit www.returntoeurope.org.
