Bibliography of Background Documents from the

Knowledge for Development Research Seminar 2003-2004

Bibliography by System | Bibliography by Author

These documents were provided as background readings by the speakers in the Knowledge for Development Research Seminar that was hosted at Harvard University's Center for International Development from September 2003 through March 2004. The seminar took a comparative look at "knowledge systems": organized efforts to harness science and technology in support of social goals. Seminar participants reviewed the rich history of experience with such systems -- ranging from the international agricultural research system to health research systems for the control of infectious diseases to military R&D systems -- in an attempt to understand whether there are common features to their successes and failures that can be used in improving the performance of other knowledge systems around the world. This version of the bibliography lists the documents alphabetically by lead author; there is also available a version that organizes the documents by knowledge system. The bibliography is also available for downloading in PDF and Word formats.
