Lars H. Gulbrandsen is a Doctoral Research Fellow at Harvard’s Center for International Development. He is a Senior Research Fellow at the Fridtjof Nansen Institute in Norway and a doctoral candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Oslo. His doctoral research deals with the emergence and effectiveness of non-state institutions for environmental governance. He focuses on certification and labeling schemes in the forestry sector, and compares forest certification with other cases of certification and labeling, particularly in the fisheries sector. One component of the project explores the role of knowledge and knowledge producers in this context. The research project is funded by the Research Council of Norway. Gulbrandsen has published in the areas of environmental politics and corporate social responsibility. He has a M.Phil. in political science from the University of Oslo and a M.Sc. in social and organizational psychology from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
