The Harvard Kennedy School Library’s mission is to serve the research, teaching, and learning needs of HKS students, faculty, staff, alumni and the greater Harvard community. Access to the library is limited to current Harvard ID holders and alumni. Visitors should present a photo I.D. and be signed in at the Access Services Desk upon arrival. Please note: All library users are subject to the terms of the HKS Code of Conduct and related policies.
Affiliates of Borrow Direct libraries are welcome to visit and use our collections. To borrow items from our collections, however, these users will need to first visit the Widener Privileges Office in Widener Library to get a Borrow Direct + Special Borrower Card. This card provides borrowing privileges for particular Harvard libraries.
Outside researchers who are not affiliates of Borrow Direct libraries and who have research needs that can only be met by the HKS Library may apply for access to the collection by completing this form. For more information, contact the Reference Department at 1-617-495-1302 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Children under 16 years old may enter the library when accompanied by an adult with valid Harvard ID; children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
The Library is committed to providing access to its collections and services to persons with disabilities and will make every reasonable effort to assist users with special needs. Please contact either the Director, Library and Knowledge Services, Leslie Donnell (617-495-8945) or the Reference Staff , (617-495-1302) to inquire about arrangements.
