Malte Schophaus

Research

MALTE SCHOPHAUS's research focuses on issues at the intersection of science and technology studies and social movement research. His current research explores the role of scientific expertise for social movements and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the knowledge society. He will especially pay attention to the globalization-critical movement in Germany. Besides this current research he is also interested in citizen participation, cooperation management and environmental psychology.

Malte joins the Harvard STS program as a visiting fellow of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the DFG - Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation). In Germany he is working on his PhD in the graduate program "On the Way to Knowledge Society" at the Institute for Science and Technology Studies (IWT) at the University of Bielefeld. Before he has worked as a research associate at Nexus — Institute for Cooperation Management and Interdisciplinary Research, Berlin, at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung (Social Science Research Centre Berlin) and in the research group Technology & Society of DaimlerChrysler, Berlin. He studied Psychology and Sociology at the Free University of Berlin and at the University of California, Irvine/USA. Malte is an active member of the association "Psychology for Environmental Protection" (IPU e.V.).
