This seminar focused on the most significant new initiatives in urban school districts. Participants focused on issues related to sustainable improvements in urban education, with a view to comprehend how to bring about long-term success. To this end, we highlighted what we hope to be the best methods for effecting meangingful reform and provided the practitioners in the audience with a sound understanding of what works and under what conditions. Perhaps most importantly, we were concerned with an analysis of how various models of change impact student achievment and other areas of developmental success.
