Steven Clift is an online
strategies consultant focused on the use of the Internet in democracy.
He directs the Democracies Online effort including its Newswire service.
He is a consultant to the Markle Foundation's E-mail for All public outreach
effort. He serves as Board Chair of Minnesota E-Democracy, a non-profit
organization that created the world's first election-oriented web site
in 1994. For three years he coordinated the State of Minnesota's
government online
efforts. He is Co-Editor of the G7 Government Online and Democracy
White Paper which will be released in the spring of 1998. His recent
article "Democracy is Online" appeared on the cover of the Internet Society's
OnTheInternet magazine this month.
