Greg Garcia
Coalition Manager
Americans for Computer Privacy
Since February 1998, Greg Garcia has been the Coalition Manager of the
newly-formed Americans for Computer Privacy, a broad-based non-profit advocacy
group pressing for the elimination of U.S. government export controls on
encryption technology and the prohibition of government controls on the
domestic use and manufacture of encryption. ACP wants to ensure that
all American people and institutions are able to use the strongest possible
encryption to protect their private information from prying eyes and to
protect the nation’s information and critical infrastructures from cyber
attack.
As Coalition Manager, Garcia coordinates the activities of a broad range
of participants in the ACP advocacy process, from political, grass roots
and media consultants to industry and interest group lobbyists.
Garcia comes to ACP from the American Electronics Association, where
for six years he lobbied international trade issues on behalf of the high
tech industry. Prior to AEA , Garcia was an international trade reporter
and consultant for 5 years at Newmyer Associates, a public affairs consulting
firm.
Garcia is a graduate of San Jose State University and is married with
one son.
