Gender and Political OpportunityThe Gender and Political Opportunity area integrates the study of gender and politics to understand gender dynamics in political action, discourse and within governmental structures. Within this area, WAPPP runs a program, From Harvard Square to the Oval Office, training Harvard graduate students to run for political office. It is a non-partisan, year-long program providing a select group of Harvard graduate students with the training and support they need to ascend in the electoral process at the local, state and national levels. Ultimately, our goal is to fill the political pipeline with women, correcting the large-scale gender imbalance and striving towards equal representation in government. Gender and Politics SeminarSeminars will meet on the third Thursday of each month from 11:30 am - 1:00pm in Taubman 401. During these sessions, we will discuss topics in gender and politics—ranging from women and government, running for elected office, the question of the efficacy of political quotas, to global gender issues. Special guest lecturers will be invited.
