Mission
The Women’s Policy Journal of Harvard, John F. Kennedy School
of Government is a student-run non-partisan, scholarly review dedicated to publishing interdisciplinary
work on policymaking and politics affecting women. Its mission
is to educate and provide leadership that improves the quality
of public policies affecting women with the intention
of furthering
communities’ economic, social, and
political empowerment.
History
The Kennedy School's
Women Student's Association (WSA) established a committee
in September 1999 to explore the creation of a women's policy
journal that would address the intersection of gender and
public policy. Meetings with students, professors, and
Kennedy School groups were held to discuss the possibility of
such a publication. Following those meetings an enthusiastic
and dedicated student staff was formed and the Kennedy School's first and only journal
dedicated to women and public policy published its first
volume in 2001. A second volume followed in 2002 and a third
volume followed in 2006. |
