Betel Girmay is Vice President of Clinical Operations at Blueprint Medicines, a Sanofi Company, where she leads global clinical development programs. Her focus is on advancing innovative therapies for patients with high unmet needs. She is recognized as a clinical operations executive with a strong commitment to inclusion, building a career at the intersection of science, leadership, and health equity.
With more than two decades of expertise in clinical development, trial management, and cross-functional leadership, Betel is known for her strategic vision, operational excellence, and ability to mobilize teams toward significant outcomes. She has championed initiatives to expand patient representation in clinical trials, ensuring diverse voices and populations are reflected in the development of new medicines.
Dedicated to mentorship and workforce development, Betel actively supports the Biomedical Science Careers Program, an organization committed to increasing the representation of underrepresented groups in medicine, science, and technology. As an advisor, she mentors students who may lack access to resources or professional networks, guiding them in navigating biomedical careers. She also serves on the Board of the Bunker Hill Community College Foundation, advancing its mission to secure resources for students, many of whom are first-generation and low-income, to pursue higher education. Additionally, she serves on the Board of the Mary Lee Burbank School PTA, advancing educational opportunities in her local community.

She holds a BS in Biology and an MBA in Healthcare Administration from the University of Massachusetts.
