Program Manager, Black Family Fellows

Carolyn Vincent is the Program Manager for the Black Family Fellowship at the Center for Public Leadership, Harvard Kennedy School. Traveling and working abroad as a young person, Carolyn realized how much she grew during challenging, immersive learning experiences. From this realization, she developed a passion for experiential teaching and mentoring others as they explore and develop as leaders. Prior to coming to HKS, Carolyn worked in the educational maritime industry, focusing on leadership development as well as environmental and social justice. Carolyn served as a Captain and educator for Sea/mester and Sea Education Association on their college study-abroad programs, which take place on traditionally rigged sailing vessels. After leading students and crew in sailing to 20+ countries on four continents, she came to the Harvard Graduate School of Education to complete a M.Ed. in Education Leadership, Organizations, and Entrepreneurship and Higher Education. Carolyn also holds a B.A. in International Relations from Brown University and a 200ton US Coast Guard Masters License. In her free time, Carolyn loves hiking, exploring the city on her bicycle, and getting out on the water any way she can.
