Driven by her personal background as a refugee who grew up in Rafah camp in the Gaza Strip and having immersed herself in American academia and professional spheres since the age of 17, Dalia Aita’s academic journey began with a quantitative economics background during undergrad, laying the foundation for a career dedicated to economic policy. For over three years, she served as an analyst within the Middle East and Central Asia department at the International Monetary Fund, specializing in economic analysis and policy formulation related to the MENA region. Her deep-rooted interest in public policy, particularly in addressing the challenges faced by refugees, motivates her studies at HKS. Here, Dalia is focused on expanding my knowledge and skills in designing effective refugee-related policies and advocacy strategies. Post-HKS, she aims to apply her background and experiences to contribute meaningfully to the development and implementation of policies that support displaced populations. Ultimately, her career goal is to influence inclusive and sustainable public policies that positively impact the lives of refugees and vulnerable communities.
