Gareth Davies MP is a senior leader at the intersection of finance, public policy, and global capital markets. He currently serves as Shadow Financial Secretary to the Treasury, leading scrutiny of national tax and investment policy, and is Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Private Capital, championing the role of institutional investors in driving economic growth.
Appointed Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in 2023, Gareth oversaw the UK’s economic growth, infrastructure, and investment agenda. He also played a key role in modernising the UK’s infrastructure strategy across energy, transport, and digital assets.
Before entering government, Gareth spent fourteen years in international finance, holding senior roles in London, New York, and Boston. He led strategic growth initiatives across institutional and wealth channels, built investment platforms, and originated multi-billion-dollar mandates with global banks, sovereign funds, and pensions.
A Senior Fellow at Harvard’s Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government, he is conducting research on Geofinance: Financial Influence in the 21st Century for his forthcoming book to be published by Bloomsbury and the Brookings Institute. His faculty advisor is Professor Richard Zeckhauser, Frank P. Ramsey Professor of Political Economy.
