Mariam Essam Allam is an investment and development professional with experience across financial advisory, infrastructure project development, and philanthropic strategy.

She is the Executive Director of the Essam and May Allam Foundation, a donor organization founded by the Essam Hassan Allam family to advance evidence-based solutions in education and agriculture in Egypt. Established as a legacy project in honor of her late father and twin sister, the Foundation supports the design, rigorous evaluation, and scaling of high-impact interventions. Its work is structured around two pillars: the Essam Allam Agriculture Accelerator, which focuses on climate resilience, agricultural productivity, market access for smallholder farmers, and food security; and the May Allam Knowledge Incubator, which strengthens early childhood and primary education, promotes the Arabic language, preserves Middle Eastern arts and culture, and expands access to vocational training and scholarships. Across its portfolio, the Foundation works to ensure philanthropic capital contributes to measurable and sustainable development outcomes.

In parallel, Mariam works at Hassan Allam Holding, where she focuses on infrastructure investments, including structured finance and the development of large-scale projects. Previously, she served on the Mergers & Acquisitions team at PricewaterhouseCoopers, advising on complex transactions across the MENA region.

Mariam is a member of the Harvard Global Development Council and serves on the board of the Egyptian Observatory for Evaluation & Policy Making (EOEPM)—a joint initiative of the Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the Information and Decision Support Center, the Institute of National Planning, and the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation. She is also a board member at 3ie, a global organization dedicated to advancing rigorous evidence to strengthen development policy and practice.

She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Economics from the American University in Cairo.
