This summer Marissa will be working with CARE Social Ventures (CSV), a branch of CARE International. CARE is a major international humanitarian agency delivering emergency relief and long-term international development projects. CSV focuses on converting local philanthropic programs into financially sustainable social enterprises. The goal of these programs is to transition aid-based efforts fighting global poverty into social businesses. As of 2022, new programs as CSV are created with an intentional gender lens. Much of this internship will be focused on positioning CSV to be a leader in supporting and managing gender-focused social ventures. The first program to be evaluated under the new gender lens will be the Latin American program in Honduras that Marissa will help to grow while at CSV. This program will be focused on addressing the critical healthcare gap by helping to build a global platform for community healthcare worked-based interventions at CARE to scale sustainably. In addition to her work within their Latin American development team, Marissa will assist in creating legal procedural documents for all of CSV’s current and future businesses.
