Otávio Gurgel is a 31-year-old Brazilian with a background in business administration, finance, and education. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV). Aside from an exchange program at Mannheim Universität in Germany, Otávio lived his entire life in São Paulo, Brazil, where he was born. Professionally, he co-founded Galena, an EdTech company in Latin America, where he served as CFO. Prior to Galena, Otávio's career focused on investments and finance, working in private equity at Advent International and in M&A at Allied Tecnologia and igc Partners. Looking ahead, his professional interests lie in public policy, where he can drive impact, and finance, the area where most of his expertise lies. After HKS, Otávio aims to transition into a public policy role, focusing on initiatives that promote equity and access to quality services. He is particularly interested in working with multilateral organizations to address systemic inequalities and foster sustainable development on a global scale, with a particular focus on Latin America.
