Ralph Schlosstein is Chairman Emeritus of Evercore, a position he has held since February 2022. Previously he was Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors and Co-CEO, positions he held since July 2020. Prior to that, he served as President and CEO of Evercore for more than 11 years. Beginning in October 2022, Mr. Schlosstein will also be a Senior Advisor to Warburg Pincus, a private equity firm that manages over $110 billion of assets.
Prior to joining Evercore in 2009, Mr. Schlosstein was the CEO of HighView Investment Group, an alternative investment management firm. Before forming HighView in 2008, he served for almost 20 years as the president of BlackRock, the largest asset management firm in the world, with more than $8.5 trillion of assets under management. Mr. Schlosstein co-founded BlackRock in 1988, was a director since the company went public in 1999, chaired BlackRock’s management committee and was a member of the executive and investment committees.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Schlosstein was a managing director in investment banking at Lehman Brothers, where he started the firm’s interest rate swap business and led the mortgage and savings institutions group. From 1977 to 1981, he worked for the federal government, initially as deputy to the assistant secretary of the Treasury Department, then as associate director of the White House Domestic Policy Staff, responsible for advising President Carter on urban policy, economic development and housing issues, as well as on the Chrysler loan guarantee program. From 1974 to 1977, he was an economist for the Congressional Joint Economic Committee.
Mr. Schlosstein is a director of New Visions for Public Schools, a trustee of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Previously, he was a director of Pulte Corp., the nation’s largest homebuilder; a member of the Visiting Board of Overseers of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University; a trustee of Denison University; a trustee of Trinity School in New York City; a trustee of the American Museum of Natural History; and a trustee of The Public Theater in New York City.
He graduated cum laude with a B.A. from Denison University, and completed his coursework for a Master of Public Policy from the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh.
