Richard has had two distinct careers with one thing in common: getting things done. Career one consisted of public sector work starting with community organizing in NYC’s East Harlem Tenant’s Council where he organized rent strikes and a food buying coop. Other endeavors included work for Planned Parenthood World Population’s Guttmacher Institute, HEW’s National Center for Family Planning Services, the Southern West Virginia Regional Health Council, NYC’s Health and Hospital Corporation, and in support of Ponce, Puerto Rico’s Hospital Metropolitano Dr. Pila. Much of this work focused on health care equity and access.
Career two included work at Cushman & Wakefield Richard providing advisory and brokerage work for clients including Aetna, Prudential, Saudi European Bank and Hunton & Williams. Under Richard Berzine & Co, he served over 23 years as Real Estate Advisor to The Economist, The Financial Times, Interactive Data and Penguin Putnam. Richard led teams in procuring, designing and constructing national and regional HQ facilities in London and Manchester England, and Hong Kong and Paris.
Richard is a board member of London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral Trust in America and has been appointed by the Selectman of the Town of Canaan to a committee to organize a State approved historic district within Falls Village and is an active supporter of Falls Village’s much beloved D.M. Hunt Library.
