With the advent of the digital revolution in healthcare, digitized health records have become ever more omnipresent. The World Health Organization’s (WHO) Global Strategy on Digital Health, put forth in 2020, has emphasize the imperative of universal, equitable and ethical access to digital health data. In this vein, Ruchita will work with the UN University International Institute for Global Health (UNU IIGH) to unravel the intricacies of digital health data dynamics, leveraging digital immunization data in Malaysia as a pertinent case study. Her project will have three main aims: Aim to delve into the nuances of immunization data collection in Malaysia, Explore the governance models applied to these data streams, and Elucidate the potential gender biases in immunization data access, collection and dissemination. These aims will be explored through the employment of both a critical evidence synthesis of existing scientific and policy related literature on immunization data in Malaysia, and through discussions with policy makers and community health system workers found through the UNU IIGH network.
