Shira Amiel Ben Abba serves as the head of the welfare team in the Budget Department of the Israeli Ministry of Finance. She is responsible for economic policy, its implementation, and the fiscal aspects of the welfare sector, including Ministries of Welfare and Integration, Social Security and Holocaust Survivors' Rights Authority. Beforehand she was Head of the Macro team, managing the budget's approval process and the in-year operations. Before working in the Budget department, she served as a Parliamentary advisor to MK Karine Elharrar, Chair of Parliament’s State Comptroller Committee. Since December, Shira is also a board member of the national Postal company. Married to Dror and mother to 1-year-old Shani. Shira holds a BA (magna cum laude) in philosophy, political science, and economics from the Hebrew University, and an MA (magna cum laude) in legal studies from Bar-Ilan University. Shira likes to travel, meet friends and solve jigsaw puzzles.
