CAMBRIDGE, MA—The Center for Public Leadership (CPL) at Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) is now accepting nominations for the 2019 Gleitsman Citizen Activist Award. The honoree—a changemaker confronting and correcting social injustice in the United States—will receive a $125,000 award and a commissioned sculpture designed by Maya Lin, designer of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. and the Civil Rights Memorial in Birmingham, AL.

The Gleitsman Award is given annually to a leader who has “improved the quality of life for all and inspired others to do the same.” Previous recipients include Bryan Stevenson (Equal Justice Initiative, 2000); Gloria Steinem (Women’s Movement activist, 2006), Rebecca Onie (Health Leads, 2012) and John Lewis (Rep. for Georgia’s 5th District, 2017)
