The Online Program for LGBTQI+ Advocacy and Leadership includes online trainings and an in-depth program that is directly linked to our annual in-person summit.
Overview:
Fundamentals of LGBTQI+ Movement Building
The Fundamentals of LGBTQI+ Movement Building is a five-month online program running from January through May, with a total of seven interactive sessions (two in January, two in May, and one each month in between). The program equips activists with practical frameworks, strategies, and tools to strengthen their advocacy and sharpen their theory of change.
Completion of this program is required in order to apply for the in-person 2026 International LGBTQI+ Activism Summit.
Program Preview: Seven Sessions
Explore how movements evolve and reflect on where your own work fits within the larger LGBTQI+ movement.
Examine how progress often provokes backlash, and consider ways to position your work and sustain resilience in challenging contexts.
Identify damaging myths and stigmas in your society and explore how harmful terrains—such as policy, religion, medicine, and social life—can be transformed into platforms for equality.
Apply systems thinking to see how laws, social acceptance, visibility, and backlash are interconnected, and understand where your activism can make the greatest impact.
Learn to build strategy through targets, tactics, and timing, while developing your own clear theory of change.
Share and analyze the tactics and strategies activists have used around the world.
Bring everything together by presenting a personalized model of change that reflects your unique context, strategy, and vision for impact.
Commitment
Participants are expected to:
Attend all seven live sessions
Complete readings and short reflections
Write a discussion post synthesizing the content of each session in its context
Develop a final model of change (written or visual) by the end of the program
