Summary
Five graduate students from the Harvard Kennedy School were selected as the third class of Topol Research Fellows at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy.
Under the guidance of Professor Erica Chenoweth, a leading scholar in alternative solutions to political conflict, the Topol Fellows will dedicate the next academic semester to developing a more robust, evidence-based, and comprehensive understanding of nonviolent resistance movements. The Fellowship entails funding to gather data for the Carr Center’s Nonviolent Action Lab and participating in monthly discussion groups.
“Now in its third year at the Carr Center, the program—with Erica’s leadership and direction—supports a flourishing community of HKS students and scholars working on nonviolence as an approach to solving many complex and pressing problems,” states Faculty Director Mathias Risse. The program is made possible by the generous support of Sidney Topol and the Topol Foundation. Sidney Topol is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, peace activist, and serves on the Advisory Board at the Carr Center.
Teresa Chen, former Data Science Business Leader for Nielsen, Mayumi Cornejo, former Project Associate of Asociación Huarayo, Priyanka Krishnamoorthy, former Research Analyst for the Ministry of Finance of Sri Lanka, Michelle Poulin, former Senior Program and Event Coordinator for the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review, and Noopur Sen, former Manager for IDinsight, comprise the 2021 Topol Research Fellows.
